89 johnson 6hp primer system

Hi, found the retainer clip laying on the bottom of the engine compartment, have the picture of schematics of the primer, but it dont show where this clip goes, i have no clue, any help would be appreciated. Ed....

What makes you think the clip is from the primer?

I guess you are talking about the C shaped wire clip 326338.

Cant help but i see your problem. Some part of that assembly must now be loose. Look for a groove or a slot that it will fit and fix the bit that's loose.

Sorry not much help, my 6hp is a few years older hand and does not have a primer pump.

Does it secure the end cap to the pump body (432145 to 394337) ?

On further invstigation I see that the pump body fits into a bracket bolted to the inlet manifold. Does this clip retain the pump in that bracket? Or is that what the end cap and nut clamp up onto.?

Thanks for your input, i am going to take the whole thing off, i can not see any grooves to where it will slip over,when you pull out to choke , then push it back in it pushes the whole body back, i will let you know what i find, Thanks Ed.....
