Need some thoughts..
2006 Nissan Frontier, 2WD. Crew Cab..
Can I get by with a ball on the bumper or need to go all out and get the bolt on?
Looking at towing a 18 1/2 boat, maybe 2,000 lbs? Def under 3,000.
Will need to get the boat home, 150 miles.

Thanks

it doesnt say on your bumper? if your going to be towing all the time i would go with the bolt on $150 for some peace of mind is pretty reasonable

Kev you should be ok, to get home, then go to hidden hitch, or the others, and install yourself. i have done several, they are easy now. about 30 minutes.

Probably doesn?t need to be said, but hey I?m waiting for my burgers on the Bar-B-Q to be ready

To be on the safe side I would double check the bumper to frame mounting hardware for tightness, all fluid levels, and tire pressures truck / trailer.

You?ll be good to go.

I agree, as long as the trailer is reasonably level with the bumper hitch. You don't want to drag the back of the trailer on the road.

Your bumper should be plenty strong for that kind of trip.
That said, the reciever style hitch is a better long term investment once you get it home. bumper hitch's will cause you to beat up your bumper in the long term. Note you may need to do more than the plug and play wireing harness though (There is a relay to add if memory serves.) I drive an 07 frontier LE and the reciever and wireing came installed. Great truck and tows like a dream!

Check out www.clubfrontier.org for lots of discussion on hitch's, wireing and all kinds of other good Frontier talk.

Thanks for the info, and yep, I tore up the plastic step cover badly...

The swing a way jack handle was too close, should have noticed and changed the position..I made a right turn that had a dip as well and it really looks bad..

And I had to go to the Nissan dealer and buy the factory convertor for the plug, $77 bucks & 20 bucks at the trailer shop, Had the relay that was wired through the passeger side kick panel, but it looks good and is wired right at least..

I have the Crew Cab, your right, tows like a dream, and HAULS ARSE when ya wanna go!...May paint the boat to match the Nissan Electric Blue..
