Just bought the engine Water pump is bad i think. The bottom half will drop down about a inch can't seem to get it past there. Also wanted to make sure that a 5302A-EO1415 is a 63' model. Any input appreciated. Thanks!

There was a thread earlier today and the fellow had a 60 5.5 and was told he had to remove the power head to disconnect the leg. Have a look, I think his handle was running cougar. Perhaps it is the same with a 63 ? Rick.

You do have to remove the powerhead to disconnect the shift rod. When you get the powerhead off, you will find this seal assembly. It is vital that it be in good condition and assembled correctly. To do otherwise will destroy the powerhead from water infiltration up through the main bearing. Always replace the 303355 gasket and 303347 o-ring. You probably will also need a new powerhead gasket.
