I recently acquired an old Johnson outboard. Ser# 48714 and mod# TS 20. Is there any where you can suggest to get new points, condenser, and anything I might have missed to redo the ignition on this old classic. Much thanks in advance. Martin

that takes a pre universal magneto set of points, coils and condensers. hard to come by. don't even know if you can get new anymore. good thing is the coils are fairly bullet proof. the points can be dressed and a new condensor will work on them. I have a couple of motors running these parts. Got one spare set of parts as well.

Agreed. Those things are amazingly durable. Take the points apart, clean all the grease and goo off them, and use some 400 grit wet-or-dry sandpaper backed up with a hacksaw blade to smooth out each contact individually. You don't have to get all the craters out, just the bumps. Keep track of all the little spacers and insulators and don't lose anything. And do one set at a time so you have a sample to see the order of assembly. The push rod goes with the round end toward the points and flat end on the cam.

I've seen some new points offered from time to time, but they are like gold in price.
