morning, i have a johnson 150 (1991) that i believe may need a stator. im dropping cylinders at wot like its nobody's business.cant get over 3900 rpm..is there anywhere available online that i could find a manual or do i have to purchase one? hopefully the first option..the economy kind stinks right now:rolleyes:

also i have a broken motor mount as well..i can see this being a problem. im sure those bolts are not going to come out very easily but i have no experience with outboards(i build race cars for a living)but i might take a whack at replacing them.

would i might be better off just repowering it? i heard its a decent motor.its on a 1991 19' proline cc. i love the hull and it handles very well. its pretty fast on plane even at 3500 and im sure it would probably be even better at 6k but i just cant get it up there. i was thinking of putting either twin 125's or a single 250 on it but i guess thats just my nature to make everything too fast.id like to get the boat to go around 55mph but i would also like it to go straight if you catch my drift lol

thanks for any input guys

Manuals are protected by copyright, so you're unlikely to find a pdf of any of them for late-model outboards. Buy one! It's the best investment you can make if you're going to work on your own outboard. I can't imagine doing anything to mine without it.

thanks for the info cat, is there anywhere you would suggest getting it from? have you ever worked on this type motor?

TD's got the right place for the manuals. It'll set you back around $70, but it'll be the best part you every bought for your outboard.

ok maybe a stupid question but here is the list of motors..is there a stamping number on the motor to identify it? the only thing i know is im pretty sure its a vro motor. the engine cover says vro on it and there is a plugged line next to the fuel line which im assuming was for the oil mixer?

Seloc would be better than nothing, which you can probably check out from the library.
