Penta Volvo No Spark out of Coil ???

I just bought a 1988 Sunrunner with the 4cyl Volvo engine. I replaced the starting solenoid, and the coil. I am not getting any spark out of the Coil. Is there any relay's hidden that I cant see? I tried acouple of different configurations on the coil. Rite now I have the Purple wire on the + side of the coil then theres a white wire on the - side of the coil. My meter was reading 9.6 at the coil and my battery which is brand new is reading 26.

You have a 26 Volt battery
Somehow I feel you aren't really familiar with a meter are you.
Have you ever changed the points and condenser in the distributor?
What model engine do you have?

Yes I was reading my meter wrong I just put those numbers on there to show the difference. I have a AQ151B motor. I havent changed the points or condensor. Should I take sandpaper to the points?

I just held the end the the coil wire that goes to the dist. and my buddy cranked the motor! I didnt get shocked... Nothing is coming out of the dist.

Ah, just to cover the basics... is the safety lanyard kill switch in the on position?​

the wires are cut on the back of the dash. I think the previous owners just jumped it.

Ayuh,.... I think you're Over your Head.....

You need to learn the basics of a point fired gasoline engine...

The Coil is fired by the points when they close....

Im here to learn....I know the basics just not the points system. Im a 4.6 mod motor guy.
