Alarm - Beeping

I'm brand new to boating and I have a Glastron 2001, Volvo, Penta 4.3GL motor. I was out taking care of my boat and I turned on the ignition and a beeping alarm started. It was coming from the engine compartment, the boat has not been used this year, as we have just bought it and it is still winterized. Does anyone have an idea as to what it could be for?

Thanks MJ

Re: Alarm - Beeping

That is where your alarm horn is located.
The alarm is for 2 things, low oil pressure, and high engine temperature.
If all you did was turn the ign. switch on and not start the engine, then it's normal. It's telling you there is no oil pressure.

ya, what happens after you start? They should go quiet within 10 seconds from start up-more than that there is a problem.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to drop it in the lake soon ( it's still a little to cold up here) to figure it out.
Can I connect a garden hose to the motor and run the motor in the drive way with out it overheating?

MJ, did you ever figure out your beeping problem? The reason i ask, is I have exactly the same issue. it just beeps as soon as i turn the key, before the motor ever turns over. In fact, the motor won't start at all.
