A year ago I asked for ideas in a forum thread that since my wife does not have a windshield on her side, how does she keep the bugs out of her teeth :D

Of course I just tell her to keep her mouth shut, but that does not always work. I had thought of a hockey mask, but not a very attractive alternanative.

So I see this months Cabela's catalog has just the ticket now.

Here is a partial description of the new Saving Phace Mask

This over-the-face mask is ideal for boaters who tend to keep RPMs high on performance fishing and pleasure boats. Just as a hockey mask protects goalies from laser-speed slapshots, the Save Phace effectively protects your eyes and face from sun, wind, bugs, blowing sand and wave splash.

Wow, if this is a new item . . . see how far ahead of the curve I was!
I should get some type of consideration for that idea!

Even better, if I can find a girlfriend now to take on the boat who has a nice bod but my luck, a bad face . . . I can just tell her she needs to wear this here mask to protect her face :D :) :D

Those have been around for awhile. You mention it for bugs, but in bass tournaments, since the boats run 55 - 80 mph, it is to keep the wind off our face, especially in the winter, when the wind is 20 degrees. But, most guys now wear full face motorcycle or snowmobile helmets. The padding keeps your whole head warm, not just your face. And, it is quieter than having the wind on your ears when running at speed.

Buffs are big here, I've been wearing one for a few years but I'm pretty sure those would get some stares here.

I got trapped in a severe storm on Champlain years ago and the rain felt like it was sand blasting off my skin (yes we were doing 65 in a bass boat)... they are a good idea.

A motorcycle helmet to fish, now that is some serious fishing!

Make sense though, I ride a motorcycle and rain can get pretty painful at speed, of coarse work is 30 minutes away and it is almost all 60+ mph roads.

Believe it or not I actually had the idea for smart tabs a couple years before they came out,@'97-98, got 2 gas assist shocks from work, stainless steel hinges and a couple 6''x8'' aluminum plates but when I got into the boat to put them on I found water logged foam which solved my problem with not wanting to plane so I never put them on, really really wish I had followed up on that one.

The mail box with a door on the back, mine.

I have an ice hut now, 4'x8'x6' tall that sets up in under a minute with no loose parts, it collapses down to 12'' tall for transport and you put all your gear inside of it so nothing can fall out on your way to your spot and I made a receiver carrier for it so you walk it on and off the truck.

But you have to patten it and defend the patten and figure out how to mass produce them, if there is a market, so building one is the least of it.

My philosophy is anyone can buy something but how many people can build thier own?

Oh and I had a mask very similar to that when I raced BMX back in 1981 so they just found a new use for an old product.

Ya, now that you mention it I have seen those same masks on BMX racers.

You seem very inventive. But the most famous inventor of all times has to be Al Gore who invented the internet :D

Ahah! My BIL kept telling me someone was making/marketing a wussy mask...how much does this gem cost? I think you should get a percentage at the very least, and a cut of the marketing rights. A nice hooded parka and a grinders mask accomplishes the same thing for less than $20, but then it's not bass tour approved I suppose. Wonder if it makes the bass wagons fly any faster?
