A hose from a washing machine cut in half works nicely.

that's the last thing you'd want to do.

Find the water hose that comes up from the transom plate to the thermostat housing. Take it off the transom and shove and clamp your garden hose into that.

wouldn't it be much easier to take a washing machine hose apart instead of climbing behind the engine and pulling the transom hose off then putting it back on. especially if the hose has been on for a long time.
So leaving transom hose on and putting a washing machine hose on maybe easier and better?

Been doing it that way for 30 years, TELL US why you think it`s a bad idea.
you dont take it apart, just cut it in half and shove it in.

2 reasons.

You can't clamp it into place doing that.

You can't see if it has fallen out when your inside the boat.

I've seen motors cook because the cheap muff's fell off, and the "tech" didn't realize it. At least it's in front of you and if something happens to the water supply you'll know it.
