I'll admit it. I've ignored this 10 year old recall notice. But my starter switch on my 200 HP Evinrude Vindicator does stick. For instance, when I turn the key nothing happens. I have to put it in reverse, then forward again, and all works fine.
I believe in "if it ain't broke," so I haven't monkeyed with it, and the local shops are about all gone anyway. So I just keep using the reverse trick and I've never had a problem.
But, I do wonder if my "reverse" routine will one day no longer work.
So, Question: Can I lube that thing myself somehow? The recall notice inferred that was all that is needed.
Ideas?
