hey everyone,

I have a 1966 - 1968 Johnson 20 hp I purchased recently from a junk collector that had it sitting on a rotten fiberglass boat in the middle of an over grown field and I took it home gave it a carb bath/new fuel pump and it runs like a champ... which I'm glad for because it only set me back $30.... smoking deal..... now my question(s) are... I need to order some minor parts for this bad boy because it is missing the assembly for the fixed high speed (it only has a bolt in it) and some parts for the choke assembly.... now what I'm wondering is .... do these parts interchange for the 1966 20 hp - 1968 20 hp johnson series throughout those years? The serial number plate was missing off this motor when I bought it so I can't really pinpoint the year to get exact parts. I pulled out some blown up drawings of the carburetor assembly for 1966 and 1968, and the drawings were exactly identical. My other question is, is there any other way besides the serial number plate that I can figure out exactly what year this machine was manufactured and what model it is....

Thanks for reading gentlemen and any help will be appreciated.

look for quarter size disc (freeze plug) on the block, should have model # on it. BRP site you can compare part #s, as there were many years that only had small changes.

Re: 20hp johnson parts interchange

i have a 1966 20hp johnson longshaft. Does anyone know what the fuel pump part number is? i can't seem to find it after hours of searching. :( My motor runs good at low speeds but then pulses at high rpm, i was told that it was the fuel pump or maybe the coils.
