Hi all....

i am looking to buy a slightly used boat.

i love fishing. so, that is a must in a boat...however, i also like just tooling around with friends and the dog.

i really like the 189 or 288 sport from nitro, but just wanted to hear something about it from some in the comminuty...

is it a decent boat? decent resale value?

compare it to a Tahoe q5i i think....

the nitro seems like the best of both worlds to me...and the tahoe boats seem more like ski recreation boat with a trolling motor stuck out front...

can anyone help me out?

i am looking in the 17-22K range slightly used....first boat to be owned....

would be open to other suggestions and input...

thanks!

Re: Nitro fish/ski quality...resale....

First of all, welcome !!!

About 3 years ago, we test drove a 288 Nitro f/s boat. It had a 200 hp Merc on it as I recall.

It was o.k.

There have been some reporting on this board, about problems with Nitro's, BUT, it can happen to any brand of boat, IMO. Personally from what I've read, I'd be wary of buying from a Bass Pro Shop, from what I've read.

I'd have it checked it our by a marine surveyor, to be safe.

We have a couple of issues with our LARSON. Nothing too big, but none the less "isues".

We ended up with a deck boat, with a I/O unit. It is another possibility. My wife liked the eing deeper, and wider. Better for taking people out with you. Just a thought.

thanks for the welcome...AND the response...

i think that i fully get you...

i really like the tahoe 215 deck boat too...it seems really nice...and i also like the fact that it does not have and outboard hanging off the back...makes for more enjoyable and safe rear entry and exit while in the water...

i just wonder about the 'abilities' of a deck boat for fishing...although marketed as both, i have to wonder how versatile a larger deck baot will affect ease of trolling and shallow water accessible areas....
