Hey,
I have a 1981 Evinrude 150 that I have had now for 3 years. It started bogging down and cutting out at WOT. I can run down the lake all day long at 30-35mph (max speed on the boat is about 50mph) but when I lay the hammer down and go WOT it will run for maybe a 1/2 mile and start to bog down. If I choke it quick enough sometimes it will clear up and keep going but sometimes I have to stop and choke and crank it and idle it up until it clears. So far I have ran a spark test when it starts to cut out and it passed. I found multiple fuel leaks on the hoses going to the carbs and have replaced all hoses including the hose and bulb from the tank. Also, when it cuts out I have checked the bulb and it is not mushy the fuel system doesn't seem to have air in it. The person I bought the boat from told me the motor had been rebuilt 2-3 years before I bought it, I knew the guy so I trusted him on that.
Thanks to any help,
PhilMac

I actually replaced both fuel pumps last year. I am pretty sure the vent is not stopped up I have seen fuel come out of it when I overfilled the tank.

Sounds like the engine is starving for fuel, if it will pick up when you choke it. In addition to rechecking fuel pump pressure, check the ball valves in the hose bulb-or replace the hose. If your tank anti-siphon valve ever gets dirt in it, it will stop functioning properly and can restrict fuel at high rpm's. Try temporarily running it on a 6 gal tank with a different hose.

if you have any fuel filters, make sure they are clean, and I'd just go ahead a replace that fuel bulb and make sure the arrows on the bulb are facing up.

this motor needs 3/8 fuel line as well. if all above checks out. you can run vacum test, under way.

I think you need to rebuild your carburetors with new kits.

i have already replaced the hose and bulb from the tank. on a side note what is the best type of fuel filter to use? i have been running a glass style w/ a screen filter on it since i got it. i think a vacuum test will be my next test.
