Hello,
First, I have put a lot of effort into researching my engine codes, so please don't think I am reaching out without doing my homework first. But the info. I got off my motor is strange... I have been told I have a mid-1950's 15 h.p. Johnson. I have off the engine: Model 00 16 And under that I have the numbers 126 01 81

Anyone have any idea at all what I can make of this? Thanks for all of your help.

Most likely, it's a QD-16, which is a 1955 10 hp model. That's the only model that matches the OO you seem to be misreading.

Snap a photo and post it here, and we can confirm for sure.

I agree. The 1956 15hp would be a model FD-11 - which looks nothing like a QD-16 on the tag. 00-16 could definitely be mistaken for QD-16...

I will re-examine tonight guys and let you know what I find. I have a 9.5 Johnson that is newer (as in late 70's / early 80's newer) and I was really looking forward to the 15 horse, but it looks like it might not be meant to be. Thanks again...

Looks like it is a QD 16 guys. Oh well... Out of curiousity, what do those motors go for in good, unrestored, running condition? I would hang on to it if it were a 15 hp. Thanks to both of you...
