I have a 2000 alpha 1 mercruiser w/5.0L V8. I have a 4 blade SS prop from a Yamaha, which is a universal mount to fit Mercruiser. It fits on the shaft perfect and I have the correct back thrust washer. I was informed that there is a special castle nut I need to bolt it on the shaft. Can anyone let me know where I can fit one the castle nut to fit the prop?

Thanks

Most any dealer will have them, prop shops will have them for sure.

Re: Installing a yamaha prop on a Mercruiser

Thanks for the response. I guess my question is this. The Yamaha 4 blade SS prop is a 14 1/4" X 21P. It has been converted by having a rubber hub installed with a 15 spline female sleeve so that it will slide right onto the Mercruiser Alpha 1 propeller shaft. I know the back thrush washer for the yamaha prop is different than the Mercruiser standard prop thursh washer. I have that part. I was told that the castle washer on top, where the nut sits down into with a spinder lock ring, to secure the prop on the shaft, is different than the standard Mercruiser castle washer. Does it take a unique castle washer to secure the Yamaha prop onto the Mercruiser shaft?
Thanks
If needed I can send photos of the prop.

I know exactly what part it is, I keep them in stock. Most dealers do too and all prop shops that I know have them too.

Actually there's nothing special about putting a Yamaha prop on a Merc. No need to rehub, all you need is the Yamaha thrust washer and that Merc castle spacer.

Okay

Do you have the part number for the castle washer?

I get mine from Turbo, just tell them what I need. I'll see if I can find a number tomorrow. Just ask anyone at a prop shop. They may have them right here at iboats.....
