Tachometer for Yamaha 50 hp outboard

I was told my tach. was bad, bought a new one and replaced. New tach. has the same reading as the old one,what could be wrong? 6-pole setting.

Test your rectifier/regulator according to your manual.

I just wonder how many 50 HP yamaha variations in both 2 and 4 stroke were built over the years.

PhilJeff - Just wondering how you made out on this? Have you solved the problem? If so, what was it. I am having similar issue on 70hp Yamaha.
