impaller ?

is the impeller suppose to fit that tight in the impeller housing. like an 1/8-1/4 bigger in diameter then the housing.

Yes, when you install the new one, the blades will bend backward and make a tight seal against the pump housing. Here's a picture I found on google:

Lube the impeller with soap and rotate it clockwise while pushing it down into the housing.

You do not need to worry about the direction of the vanes on a gen 1, it will right itself as son as you turn it over...
