Noticed when I hook up the muffs, I only get water pouring out of the bottom when I run the engine. It is only when I connect water inside the boat, that I get water out of the exhaust. I thought even with muffs I should be getting water out of the exhaust....any help?

I recently had the same issue. My water pump was bad and nothing would come out of the exaust even with the water at full blast. I was surprised as well.

The raw water impeller should be replaced every two years. That'd be a good first move. You may want to try backflushing water through the drive to make sure its not clogged. Inspect the hose that comes out of the transum shield and into the intermediate assembly on the outdrive. Its the only hose, about one inch diam. Make sure the clamps are tight and the hose is secure and not kinked.

Do not over rev the engine on muffs. It not good to rev the motor with no load.

How about a pic of that engine?:)
