I have a 76 reinell 24 ft cabin with flybridge. it has a 351w that has just been rebuilt and runs good. the problem is the outdrive has been completely removed. I am trying to figure out what outdrives are compatible so I know what to look for. any help would be great.

Ayuh,... It had a Model 1, 888 drive....
You can use a Mod.1 or an Alpha 1, with 1.50:1 gears...

The 233 has a 233 outdrive with 1.32:1 gear ratio.
It is a Merc 1 drive covered in manual #2.

Really,..?? They must be Real Dogs, with Tiny props....

I thought the 1.32s were Just for the BBCs.....

I know nothing. (just wanted to get that out of the way)
is the 233 the same as the 888 except the gear ratio? will the alpha 1 outdrive with 1.50:1 bolt right up? if so what effect would it have?
sorry to be so needy, I'm new to boats. Worked on cars/trucks but this is my first boat project. thanks

FWIW, I had a 76 Sea Ray with the 302 Ford and the 888 outdrive, and was told that the 351 would bolt right up to it...was planning on doing the swap til I decided to just buy a new boat. Good luck!
