Small Leak

Obviously I am new around here, but hopefully you guys can help me out.

A few months ago, I bought a 1995 Challenger bass boat that had been sitting in a barn. After going through all the tune up, clean up, and water testing, everything seems to be in working order, except...

...the small leak under the console.

Here's a description. When sitting down, the carpet gets wet about where my feet end (I am 6 foot tall). If you are looking towards the front of the boat, there is a black tube that runs to the front live well. However, the leak starts about where the guages are, and a foot or two away from the live well tubing.

Over the course of the day, enough water will accumulate to splash in it. Therefore, it's not a tremendous leak, but a leak nontheless.

I have been under the boat and can't find a hole. The mechanic who did all the work on it thought it might be the speedometer. However, I have detached and reattached all the tubing back there.

After all of this, I really am a loss of what to do. I suppose the leak could be so small that I can't see it in the tubing.

Anybody have any other suggestions, or ways to check the tubing?

Thanks,

Captain Chunk

Re: Small Leak

Welcome to iboats!!!!

Do you have a front livewell? Post a picture.

The water could be getting in under the rub rail too.

To eliminate the possibility of the speedo (which I doubt) just disconnect both ends of the tube....under the dash and the stern...... then again the speedo itself could leak and not the tube.

You could also plug the through hull fitting that connects the hose to the live well. If the leak goes away you would know it's in your live well system. Leaky hose, loose connection, etc..

Re: Small Leak

I am headed over to the boat tonight, so I will snap some pictues. I honestly think it is the speedo line, and the crack is small enough that I can't put my finger on the exact location.

I'll keep trying though!
