Steering removal

I have to remove the steering rotary system off my console as I need to have the console out to work on it. I could cut the fiberglass on the console to get the steering thing out but I would have to glass in support if I were to leave a slot for the cable to pass through. All that area is hidden when the console is installed but the right way would be to remove the steering mechanisem and not cut a slot.. I can get the steering wheel off but I have never taken out the steering cable. Am I opening a can of worms? There is a pin with a lable hanging from it saying to remove it and poke it in a lower hole to relese the cable. Its power steering. And works mint. I dont want to screw it up. Any heads up here would be great.

I do better with pictures. Maybe this will help you also. It's a link to Teleflex's website with online/downloadable instructions for their different systems. Try to match what you have and then do a reverse install.
