So I put a new impeller in my 93 Yamaha 30 when the shift linkage came out of the housing! Now I can't get it back in. Do I have to take the prop off? New to this so appreciate everyones help.
Thanks
Dan

Oh I was also wondering what type of oil to put in the prop shaft housing?

bad news
if you managed to pull the shift rod from the lower unit the ONLY way to reinstall it is by removing the propshaft and shaft bearing carrier. the clutch pin rides on the rod cam and is spring loaded, shift pin is now resting on the case.
i get to reinstall 4 or 5 a year.
you will need a good drill to cut the original spanner nut, prop seals, carrier oring and a spanner nut tool to reinstall the new spanner nut.
that nut rarely comes out with the tool and normally damages the case if its tried.
