Hello All,

My grandmother has an old Naden that I would like more info about. She said she bought it used in the 60s and we are trying to figure out what model and year it is. She is thinking about restoring it or selling (to someone who would restore it with love) it but we are not sure where to start on price. The boat seams to be all original even with the original windshield (diry but still in super shape). Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to iboats.

We have a max size on photos of 640 x 480 ....... your photos FAR exceeded our allowable size.

Most old aluminum boats do not draw much money on the market ....... unless you should ever find a collector looking for that specific model.

Thank you!

Well that's a classic aluminum boat. No motor or trailer? :(

Me ...... because I love aluminum boats would restore it and put a nice 40 on the back ...... and go boating.

The original motor is somewhere but she can't remember. She thinks she took it in for repair and forgot about it and the repair shop has probably gotten rid of it by now. She has always lived on the water so no need for the trailer.

Re: Help Me Identify This Naden

For those interested I found the email address of the grandson of the Naden founder. Here is what he had to say:

Dear Jeffrey:

At first glance I think it is the model N-12C. Do you know if it is about 12 ft. long through the middle? There may be a serial number stamped in the aluminum just under the gunwale near the back on the left side. Probably a three or four digit number. Sometimes they were stamped on a knee brace near the drain plug. My old price lists show the N-12C on lists dated 1955-1958. We made our first boat in 1954 and the last in 1971. The 1959 price list did not show this model.

If you can verify the length or find the serial number and can probably narrow this down. My best guess would 1958 since the picture shows a drain pan and the literature pictures do not show one.

I doubt very much that very many of this model were made. If the boat is longer I will need to look again as most of the longer models had two seats behind the center deck.

Re: Help Me Identify This Naden

You should ask for a hard copy letter about the boat and that will add to it's value :)

Really nice they emailed you back.

Hey! We have a similar boat and wondered if you had any interest in selling the windshileld. Or if anyone out there knows where we could find one, that would be great.

You might try these guys for manufacturing a windshield. I don't know the cost but I imagine it's spensive. There may be other alternative manufacturers out there also. I just happen to run into these guys and bookmarked em in case of future need.

good luck.

Re: Help Me Identify This Naden

I have, in storage, a 18 foot Naden day cruiser. It is on a Balko trailer, with a
40 horse Johnson Motor. It is white with cocoa trim. It originally had seating for
four people with fold down seats. The seats were taken out and replaced with swivel seats for fishing ease. It was a lovely boat in it's day. When I would see it out on Leech Lake in Minnesota, it reminded me of Little Toot. It is in need of some loving care. It is truly a classic. We bought it in 1962 in Webster City Ia.
My nephew wants to restore the boat, motor and trailer. Most of the work is
cosmetic, but I don't know what would be a fair price to ask. I hate it that the seats were removed, but that can't be changed now. Does anyone have an idea about what these old classic Nadens are worth?
