Hello all first time poster here. Also first time Evinrude owner. I purchased this boat awhile back and the entire trim assembly was off. Today after I finished my chemo I came home and attempted to install got it on and wanted to check operation before tiddying up the wires. The guy gave me a new motor which I installed. Here is the problem I'm having. The motor has a blue & a green nothing else. Control wiring to trim is blue, green, & black. Black being ground. Getting voltage through switch to motor but no way to ground it? Anyone have any ideas. I have tried grounding to either of the two screws holding motor back on and no luck.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The trim switch is only to control the relays.
The relays control the trim motor.
Wire the trim motor to the relays and then try it out.

good luck,

Two wire trim motors use one of the leads as ground.
To go up, 12v + to blue, negative to green
To go down, 12 v+ to green, negative to blue.

Thanks guys, getting ready to go in for another beautiful day of chemo but will try it out when I get home this evening.

Oh forgot to mention I am going through relay box. Funny thing is solenoid clicks with trim button up nothing trim button down. Possible bad solenoid even though I'm getting voltage back to motor or am I just ignorant and have the ground problem. Sounds Like I need a different relay?
