Help!! Swap engine

Hey Guy's, I found that I had a cracked block when I found water in the oil and confirmed by pulling intake manifold. I have never really been much of a mechanic, more of parts swapper. I purchased another engine. I was told it was a 1989 and my boat is a 1987 marlin. I got to swapping parts and relised my original engine has a mechanical fuel pump and the newer engine does not. Is there an after market pump I can purchase, or maybe send me in a direction to look? By the way, thanks for everyone's assistance and these post's. I would have never attempted to do something like tearing into an engine much less swapping one out.

Thanks, Monico

I have the same problem as you do and I have never done a swap over myself either, but will be watching these forums as the project progresses. Thanks to everyone for their information.

There are various electric pumps offered for marine engines just make sire it`s the correct pressure and volume. Then make sure you install it with the correct pressure switch for safe operation. The pressure switch activates the fuel pump when is senses oil pressure only. There never wired directly into the ign circuit.

I haven't found any info on the Psi/volume needed for a 4.3 mercruiser with carb. Is there anyone out here that can supply me with this info or direct me to the info? Thanks, Monico

Not sure of the motor/block, but could you just pull the cover plate off of the new one, and put the fuel pump from the old one onto the new one?

Might save you a few bucks and a lot of re-wiring efforts.

If you are going from Carb to EFI, you have to do it...
