88spl starter won't turn flywheel

I have a 1994 Johnson 88 spl, the starter will engage but can't turn the flywheel. It sounds like the starter is "spinning" but the flywheel won't turn. By hand, flywheel is very difficult to turn. Battery and connections are good. Could the engine be "frozen up" hasn't been used since November. Any ideas are appreciated.

Is your battery fully charged? Are the starter connections clean and tight?

Don't know how hard is should be to turn the flywheel by hand, but you might try removing the spark plugs and give it a try with them out.

remove spark plugs, turn flywheel by hand, feeling for any hard spots.
