I ve got a 1990 tracker 115 that i'm having problems with. The motor was gave to me by my uncle about a year ago.It was on another boat and i put it on my 1987 18 foot tracker pontoon boat.I tore the end off of a plug wire putting the cover on last year, i repaired it and it ran fine when i took it out.It sat up about a year and i got it out and went fishing a couple of weeks ago and it's running like crap. The first thing i checked was firing.I replaced that wire and it's firing on all cylinders. Then i went to the carbs. The bowl gaskets were rotten and i cleaned the carbs and replaced the gaskets, the carbs look like new inside even before i cleaned them.I ran it on a a set of muffs and it seemed to be running fine.Went fishing last night and it ran good for the first 100 yards and then starting bogging again.I took the fuel pump apart today and it looks like a brand new one, i couldn't find any problems.I'm sure it's a fuel problem because i can choke it and it'll try to open up, that's why i thought fuel pump. The ball is staying firm.I'm going to do compression check tomorrow, but i would like any suggestions to help me figure this problem out.

Clean the carbs again.
I would soak them in a solvent for a day then douche them with spray carb cleaner and then blow em out with compressed air.

Purge out any old gas you have in your fuel system.

I thought about pulling the carbs again.I used a whole can of carb cleanner and blowed them out but they weren't in bad shape, except for the bad gaskets and the trash from them coming apart. The vent is one of the first things i always do before i put it in the water, and i doubled checked when i was out on the lake fooling with it.I drained the fuel tank and purged the lines and drained the bowls on the carbs before i took it ouy this year since it had been sitting up for a year.

it takes very little to contaminate these carbs. might suggest changing all fuel lines to the B-1 rated alcohol resistant fuel lines. (ethanol in fuel).

I've got 120 psi compression on each cylinder.Tell me what i did wrong putting the vro pump back together. It's filling the cylinder with gas when i pump the ball and gas flowed back out of the bottom carb just like the floats were stuck. After i posted this i pulled the carbs back off and they are clean as a pin.the floats are fine also. Any suggestions will greatly appreciated.

its the floats, when you pump the bulb it should fill the bowl , the float rises and shuts off the incoming fuel jet...the bulb should feel firm.

Sometimes they get installed upside down.
Make sure the float is level with the bowl lip when inverted.

I pulled the bottom carb and checked the float, it looked fine the carb was clean but i sprayed it out again for the heck of it put every thing back together and it's running the best that it's ever have on a set of muffs. The throttle response is real crisp and it's idling better than it ever has before.I did find out that i was loosing fire on the bottom left cylinder which is the one that runs the fuel pump.It was corrosion on the wire that feeds the coil.I cleaned it and got a nice blue steady spark.

Good job! Now go and enjoy the summer before it gets too hot. I'd start running a fuel stabilizer like Sta-Bil and/or Seafoam to try and prevent this from happening again. Gas is getting real crappy now and days, and alot of carbs are having to be rebuilt this season.....
