Today was the day. I finally got some good weather to take the Century out for a shakedown run. I'm not use to waking up at 2:30 am that's usually the time I'm going to bed. The lake is an hour and a half ride and I wanted to be there early so I didn't tie up the ramp during busy hours.
After a gallon of coffee for me
and kibble for my little buddy.
I double checked the rig and provisions. Tools check, Spare parts check, cooler drinks food, check check and check. Time 3:30am
I waited around a few extra min for my 3:30 help to arrive.
Help? help? hellloooo where's the help? hard to find good help now a days. So I guess it's a solo run.
I left the house at 4:00am and headed south. I checked into the early birds net on the HF radio. ( ask me about ham radio)
5:30 am I pull into the launch area. Man this is nice, 3 cars in the lot including mine. 2 with trailers. I stopped the truck and walked down to the ramp to have a look. Well SC is coming up in the world They actually spent a little money on a new floating dock, a nice one too. I was a little worried about it because last time I was there there was no dock just ramps and rocks something unhealthy for a inboard V drive. Oh new walkway too, Niiice.
Water is like glass, the smell if burning pine from campers complemented crisp morning air.
I unstrapped the boat from the trailer and backed her in deep. Yay It's floating! I stepped out and jumped in the 180 lifted the hatch and check for leaks the bilge pump couldn't handle. No major leaks. I pulled the choke pumped the throttle two stokes and turned the key. Fired right off. I cracked the manifold drain and checked it for water circulation. Good To Go.
I idled up for a few min and watched the temp come up 150* and holding.
Undid the bow strap and floated it off the trailer and tied up to SC's fancy new Aluminum Dock.. Thanks SC!
Of course I had my choice of parking and got a sweet spot.
I headed to the boat and hopped in excited, nervous, apprehensive all at the same time.
