I bought this boat and motor from a friend. He is quite a large fellow.
He needed more h.p. for him and sons.
1996 30 hp electric start on 14' Crestliner 6 degree hull or close.
Motor starts fine and seems to run fine, but takes forever to get on plain.
Changed props, checked all electrical, even pulled power head to check exhaust ports. My mechanic friend and I are totally stumped.
Motor simply won't shoot the boat out of the water considering the H.P. and weight of boat. Could there have been a factory update?
At this point it might make a better anchor.

It might be the tilt of the engine. Imagine a 90 degree angle between the horizontal line of the boat and the vertical line of the motor. The farther the motor is away from that 90 degree angle, the longer the boat will take to plane out.

I am aware of motor angle to boat. This motor has no balls on take-off.
Every other motor I have owned had a snap when the throttle was put to full.

are you sure you are running on both cylinders. high speed jets clean. have you tried moving load to the bow. a picture of the boat would help. what pitch prop does it have?
