driveshaft question

I have a 96 9.9hp gamefisher from sears model #225-581998. The guy I bought it from said he tried to change the impeller but the driveshaft was stuck in the powerhead. Does anyone know if the driveshaft is supposed to come out of the powerhead on this model?

The service manual will answer your question. You have another thread about that. I imagine you're going to pay about the same for an OEM Force manual as for the Sears one. Aftermarket manuals aren't nearly as good, although they'll usually do for simple stuff like impeller replacements.
