I hope someone can help. I recently bought my boat took it to the lake put the boat in reverse everything worked good in reverse. When i put it in forward it was fine for a second but once i hammered down the boat just wouldn't hardly go. I was barely moving . Well I got pulled in. Took it home and noticed my prop was bent. Not bad but it was still bent. Out of the water when i put the ears on and put it in forward it seems fine. You would think it would fly. The motor seems fine, not missing or anything . Does anyone have a clue? I don't know much about boats. Could the forward gear be out or almost out?

with the motor running ( dont stand in the water) remove and replace each spark plug wire and post back with how many you pull and dont notice a change in how the engine runs .

Sounds like you might have one or more of a couple of problems. First, how long did the boat sit since the last time it was run? Many engines run great on the motor flush, but the carbs are gummed up and when they are put under a load (trying to push the boat) and have back-pressure on the exhaust (which you don't in your driveway), the engine falters. Also as posted below, pull the plug wires and see if there is any difference in the way the engine sounds. The engine should drop rpm's when you pull the plug wire. If it sounds the same and no rpm drop is noticed you are not firing on that cylinder; which could be anything from the plug, to a coil or the most likely culprit, the switch box.
Hope this helps.

The boat was used several times last year. The guy I bought it from said the last time he had it out it ran fine. I replaced the plugs. The plugs that came out was flat. Wasn't the normal plug that cars have. But I put the same kind that came in it but the electrode was actually on the new ones I put in. I will try taking the plug wires and see what happens . I'll let ya know if i hear a change. Thanks for the input.

I forgot to tell you guys something . When the motor is off and I got it in forward I can't turn the prop to the left but when I turn it to the right it click like it's stripped. Is it suppose to do that? Or should it be locked either way you turn it? I know it suppose to not turn but is that both ways or just one way? Thanks ...
