I do carpenter work for a living and took 1997 a 19 foot concept and trailer as part of payment.I have about $1000 in it.It has a ford cobra 302 with a valvo penta prop with 41 hours on the meter.WAS cept drydocted when at the lake but last 2 years was under tarp in the woods is pretty durty but everything is in like new cond. When i put in a battery i could get nothing to work nothing.I have never had a boat and dont know anything at all about them. What should i try and what's the worth of the boat as im just looking to get it going and sale it.And where can i look to get info on this boat.Thinks in advance for help

Re: Chris craft boats

Lots could be wrong...but prolly naut

You connected a good battery but nothing works...follow the positive battery cable to see if it goes to a red battery switch or if it goes directly to the engine starter....since its a ford it prolly has a solenoid remotely mounted.

You could also use jumper cables to connect directly to the starter.

There is also a neutral safety switch that will keep the the starter from getting power if it thinks the boat is in gear.

Go slow, do some homework

Re: Chris craft boats

I hope you heard the boat run before you agreed to the trade. Otherwise you could have a boat that is worth nothing, or may cost you money to dispose of. How the interior looks has nothing to do with the expensive stuff that could be wrong such as a trashed motor or drive. If those items are shot the boat is worthless or maybe worth the value of the trailer but that is about it. If the motor is shot and you know nothing about boats then you are in for a lot of work or a lot of expense. Otherwise most landfills don't even take hulls unless they are cut up, I suppose you could scrap it and recoup some costs that way. All depends on the mechanical condition of the boat. Hope it is something simple.

Are you saying the drive wont raise and nothing electrical works?
The guy I bought my boat from had installed a switch about 8" from the positive battery terminal for some reason. Any chance you have something like that?
