I have recently purschased a 15' whaler with a 1995 Evinrude 70hp 2stroke(vro removed) and it has been running flawlessly. Last weekend after running 5 miles or so I pulled back on the throttle and the motor died. It cranked right up, but bogged when I tried to throttle up. It finally caught, but did this two or three more times. I replaced filters and plugs and ran it most of yestday with no problems. Pulled anchor to head home and the same issue arose.Cranks and if you throttle up it bogs as if it water in the fuel. Eventually it took off and ran fine. I should mention that all new gas lines, bulb, water sep, tank. No overheat. Any advise one can lend would be great.

Re: Gremlin

Thanks! I thought of draining the bowls into the bottom part of a water bottle just to see if there is anything in the bowls before pulling them completely. Any thoughts?

Re: Gremlin

if you find particles of the old fuel line in the bowl then you know it has been contaminated . but even if not you know there may be a blockage.go ahead and drain the bowls to see if there is any crud, but i would still go ahead and pull them and do the proper cleaning and rebuilding.
