I have a 1990 Bass Tracker Aluminum Tournament V16 boat and just had a rebuilt 1989 Johnson 60HP OB with Tilt and Trim installed. I have completed the break in period and was ready to run the boat at WOT this past weekend at the lake. Currently I have a 13.2x19P prop installed and can only get 4200 RPM out of the boat at WOT at about 33 MPH with one person and a full load of fuel. I know that I should be turning around 5200 to 5500 RPM with this and do not want to Lag the motor as I know this can cause problems. The hole shot is OK but I got spoiled before because I had a Hydrofoil installed on the 40 HP motor that was on the boat before. It appears that the Anti Cavitation plate is even with the bottom of the Transom, but this is also a Deep V boat that sits down in the water pretty good. With the motor trimmed all the way down I have about 1.5" of clearance between the skeg and the ground with the boat sitting on the trailer.

Should I start by trying to go to a lower pitch prop, raise the motor? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

A 19 is too much prop.I think a 15 is a better bet.You might check out the Turning point Hustler, as long as you need to change.
The Hustler will allow the motor to run higher as well.Raising the motor will add rpm and speed. As you raise it be sure it pumps water.

Thanks for the info. Where is the best place to look for the Turning Point Hustler?

I will try a 15 pitch prop and see how it goes. If it does not increase RPM I will try raising the motor.
