I have a 1996 Johnson J25TELEDA that idles and operates alright to about half throttle; at full throttle is will bog down and die. It seems to act as though the main jet is not clean. What I've done so far is to disassemble, inspect and clean the carb (no kit at that time), put in a new fuel pump rebuild kit, cracked the 6 gallon tank while running to make sure it was venting and changed plugs. I do have a new carb kit in hand now, but before I proceed to rebuild the carb, would there be any ignition issues that would cause this problem? If it's likely to be a main jet issue, is it the jet behind the hose barb on the the bowl?

there fixed jet i think, so unless crud is in there thats not the problem. IT may be a coil overheating and dieing, or it could be that your overheating and the motor is slowing down because its getting tight or the feature of the motor to slow it self when it overheats.
