I posted this originally on the Mercruiser forum.
I got a couple of responses but no one that could help.
I just bought a 1981 Kayot Regency K170 deck boat with a Mercruiser 470.
It has about a 1/4 turn steering slop in each direction.
It has a push/pull Morse type cable from the helm back to the motor.
I found that it has 2 small cables that connect the main steering shaft to a sliding block. Both cables are broken
These small cables are just an intermediate link between the rod that the morse cable hooks onto and the motor..
I have attached a picture.
I can't seem to find any information on this steering set-up.
Is anyone familiar with this set-up? Does anyone know where I can get the replacement cables?
They are only about 1-1/2" long and about the same diameter as a bicycle hand brake cable.
Thanks
