I have a 94 Sport Nautique with the PCM 5.8L Ford. Went to start it up this spring and no go... Fuel is not getting to the carb. Through the FAQ section I thought that I had it narrowed to the fuel pump.... However, I pulled the pump off and when it is in my hand I can move the mechanism by hand and it seems to be push / pulling just fine. I tried running the pump while on the engine without fuel hooked up and it does not seem to be moving much air. I think that the problem is behind the fuel pump (internal engine) but want to double check my theory before I open up a can that I don't need to. Does anyone have any other suggestions to check before I dive into this one.....

Ayuh,... Fuel pumps aren't supposed to move Air,... They move Fuel....
Your assumptions are Faulty...

Feed it from a remote tank, rather than the boat's tank for Testing...

Re: Problem behind fuel pump

Sometimes after sitting over winter especialy with fuel drained and filters changes ect, it can take a heck of alot of cranking to ever get fuel up to the carb. I would bolt the pump back up in place attach the hoses ect. and pour a shot of fuel right into the carb and try again, you mignt have to repeat the force feed a couple times befor the fuel pump primes up.

Some fuel pumps have a contact pad riveted to the bottom of the fuel pump arm where it would contact the cam. Is it still there?

Just because its pumping some when you are pumping it by hand doesnt mean the pump isnt bad. Ive seen pumps pump fine by hand but they cannot pump fuel UP to the carb. Usually I take the the hose off the outlet side of the pump and put into a container where you can see if its pumping gas while someone cranks the engine.
