1988 mercruiser 4.3 rotor replacement

How can I use loctite on rotor and keep it from running down shaft. Instructions with kit says place a small amount of RV-1 around distributor shaft where it enters the bronze bushing. What is RV-1? Is there a better method besides pulling shaft?

The loctite is really not needed .a drop of 3-in-1 wont hurt on the shaft.
