The bolt flange on my thermostat housing broke so only 1 of the 2 bolts hold the housing on and consequently it leaks - alot. Can this break be welded or do I need to replace? Would you replace with a new part or risk another used part? Any ideas on why it would break? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Re: Broken Thermostat Housing

It was overtightened, rusty, weak from the factory, dropped at some point and cracked, etc.

They don't typically break, and you can't get new ones. Find a used one, clean'er up, and hit the water.

You can also have that one fixed, but a used replacement would probably be cheaper.
