Hello all,

My electric start primer solenoid leaks (drips fuel) constantly when in the nomal running position (with the engine off). With the lever in the manual up/down position it only leaks when I push the prime button (a couple of drops then stops).

I have not tried it with the engine running. It seems to be leaking from the red handle itself. I think it just needs a new Oring on the handle but dont want to order the wrong part and have to wait again if its not correct.

Can anyone think of something else that may cause the primer to leak like this? Im thinking the valve inside might be stuck open causing fuel to flow past the internals with to much presure for the gaskets/Oring to hold back.

Also how is the red handle removed? Do you just simply pull it off or must the solenoid be disassembled?

Thanks all!

I thought it was sponsored :p :)

I received the parts and installed them, works good now. Turns out the red handle had a crack in it. I could not see it, was cracked inside just after the O-ring seal. Sure glad I listened and ordered everything that was suggested here.

One thing the sierra branded handle is made with slightly different dimentions and it "wiggles" a bit due to pivoting on the o-ring somewhat, who ever reads this order the OEM handle, there was another problem with the sierra model the fogging hole in the center of the handle was only a pin hole size due to left over plastic flashing when the part was cast. I had to go in there and clean the hole out a bit.
