Help!! OMC V8 350 Electronic ingnition?

I have a 1986 OMC cobra v8 350 I/O with a conventional Distrubutor that went bad, a friend gave me a Mercrusier Thunderbolt IV complete . Will this fit and run my boat ? Also he said he replaced his conventional with the same distributor. Realy need to No if I can make this work.

The only problem may be adapting your ESA to work.

That sounds like a pain, Glenn. Especially for the next owner, or for you two years down the road when you can't recall how it was hooked up and the factory manual doesn't apply anymore.

If money's tight, I bet you can get a used, working distributor for your engine for next to nothin'.
