Acquired a pontoon with a 35 horse mercury that spits exhaust and water out two ports just below the powerhead at the back of the engine about 26 inches above the prop. All else normal, exhaust at prop and pees water good. Should exhaust and water be coming out of the engine at these two ports above the water line? (besides the pee hole). I can't find any info and didn't get a manual. Thanks

Heres what I'm talking about:

The circled ports have water and exhaust, the water is just spitting out but I was thinking some gaskets are in order. I hope it's nothing serious. I'll check the link for the manual. Thanks

Agreed, normal operation. You will get exhaust and water exiting out those upper relief ports, and through the prop, and through the relief ports just above the antiventillation plate. All is well.

[Update] After a tear down to replace the water pump I found one bolt missing and the other bolt loose from the water line to exhaust plate. Could it be why I had water comming out the exhaust port? Also, I need a bushing for the shift shaft but everywhere I look says no longer available.
Heres a photo of the part I need - #10 in pic.

What could I use for a bushing? Some brass shim and a washer??
The shifting would be awful sloppy without it. TIA Jeff
