I have a 1985 75hp 4cyl mercury that starts fine but will not go on high speed unless I pump the bulb..

Noticed gas leaking as pumping out the bottom carb..
Where should I begin??

I have ordered a new fuel pump

it seemed to be the bottom carb, sprayed with crb cleaner and it came out of it...:)

hey.i also have a 1985 75 2st.4cyl.merc my bowl kept getting stuck on the top carb, before i knew that was the problem,i bought a new gas tank and line with bulb and connector. and it still was not running right,so i sprayed carb cleaner in it for 5 min.it works great now.i also bought a gasket kit for my fuel pump {triangle pump, there are two types used in 85}replaced diapram and the two little o-rings and it works great,, good luck tony congema seaford, long island n.y.

Fuel coming out of your carbs is most likely to be sticking floats. Your floats are sticking at the bottom of the chamber instead of rising to the top and closing the flow of fuel.
If you have to squeeze the bulb to keep the engine running it will be a weak fuel pump which you have already ordered
Good luck
