I have noticed that I need a new thermo switch lead for a 1973 evinrude 135 hp. Its a little round plastic indicator on the top by the water passage cover.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these? I know that I can get one from evinrude.com, but its 68.00 dollars. I was curious if anyone had any knowledge of some other model or location where I can get one that is more affordable.

thanks for your help

Re: Thermo Switch Lead

Actually, its a metal switch that is imbedded and grounded in a hole in the cylinder head and held in place by the water cover. They rarely fail but sometimes lose their ground due to corrosion.

You have to take the water cover off to reach it and dig it out.

Salvage yards would probably sell you a used one for less money. Part # 378176 or superseding part # 0386686
