I'm new to the boat world, and need some answers. I inherited a 1988 bluefin 1900 sportsman w/85 hp force engine that sat in a barn for 10 years! The thing is in good shape and the engine looked like new. Long story short. The engine was down on compression, so me being a chrysler auto tech, ha ha, rebuilt the engine. Piston rings were stuck. Last weekend was her maiden voyage. The engine ran great, but seemed to bog on top end. She wouldn't go over 25-28 mph. Is this normal? I know I realy need a tach, but my question is how fast should this thing go, or is that normal. Also I heard the previous owner changed the prop due to a fishing accident, so what prop should be on it? Any help would be great.

First thing, buy a manual for the engine. Clymer is better than Seloc and CD's on ebay are not reliable. Any manual is better than none.

We need some additional info. What all did you do to the engine to "wake it up" after 10 years. Also, take the prop off and look for numbers on the front and back and between the blades. Let us know what you find.
