water shooting out of bottom cylinder-help

I have a 94 sportjet... nickname pita. Got it from my dad not running, and it's mine for a grand if i can get it running. Been one thing after another... rebuilt fuel pump, carbs, on my third starter (pinion wheel keeps getting stuck on the fly wheel), and a new flywheel today. Got the flywheel on and it started for about 15 seconds then died. I tried cranking it a few more times and though that maybe I flooded it.

I disconnected the fuel line and pulled the plugs to try and blow extra gas out. When I had my wife crank it a bunch of water came spraying out. I shut the water off and cranked it until water wasn't' coming out anymore. After that I turned the water back on and cranked it, and again more water.
I have both the service manual from mercury and the clymer but neither tell me how to remedy the problem.

Please help.

Same issue with our 1997 120 Sport Jet. Our mechanic said cracked exhaust manifold... removed but could not find any crack, we're replacing gaskets. And will try it again. Was your boat 'out of the water', with the flush kit installed?

Boat was out of the water with flush kit... found out it could have been condensation forming from the cold water circulating and the plug being out.

Tried again today and no water shooting out at all. But still won't stay running. Hopefully will get time after work tomorrow to start again with the basics.

Problem #2: Darn pinion on starter staying up on the flywheel. New starter and new flywheel... hoping they are just not broke in yet. Still going to put a stronger spring on to help push it back down.

Anyone else with the same problems?

If this can help, i had about the same problem witn my starters, (bent shaft). (2 of them) If the starter gets stuck to the flywheel, the shaft is probably bent. According to my mechanic, the oil injection system of that engine leak oil in the engine by gravity even when its not running. When it is not running for a long time (winter) oil accumulate in the bottom cylinder along with condensation water and fogging liquid. the engine is then hydro lock. In that situation the engine wont turn and the starter can be damaged along with connecting rod.
Now every summer, before operating the boat for the firts time, I empty the bottom cylinder by removing the spark plug and this worked for me so far
