I have a 4.4 hp chrysler outboard that died on me. I can keep the thing running by spraying mixed fuel direct into the carb but it dies when I stop. I pulled the fuel line off the carb but it pumps no fuel when I run it with the spray bottle. Could it be carb problems or fuel pump? Thanks.. drifter88

Have you examined the carb and fuel pump internally?
Did this just start or has the engine sat with fuel in it for months or years?
I'm not familiar with the engine, is it an actual pump, the carb pulls gas or etc?
Either way it seems your gas source needs examining for lack of gas reasons.

Good luck,
Joe

Thanks for the reply.
I have not examined the carb or fuel pump. It appears to have a fuel pump, a small thing on the side of the motor that the fuel line goes in and out of and then goes to the carb.
The motor was running fine in June and then it seemed to be getting weaker while I was running it and then it finally quit. The only way to get it to run now is spraying gas in the carb by hand.
I agree. It does sound like a fuel problem. The fuel is fresh. I use the motor as a kicker on my 16' boat and use the same fuel as my 70hp. Rebuild carb and or fuel pump? Sorry for the late reply... Wasn't watching my account.
