steering hook up on 1960 johnson 40 hp ss

hey there was wondering if anyone might be able to help just got a 1960 johnson 40hp ss electric and pull start seems to be in good shape need to clean up.but any who i got it for my silverline swift which from wut i found they had 40hp on em to begin with has the older style cable and pulley steering just wondering if anyone can gimme some info on how to hook my steering cables to it and if there is and tricks with these motors. i have some pics but it won't let me ypload em right now will do it later.

let me get this correct. the boat presently has cable pulley steering, and you want to use this system, which is fine. do you have a cable that runs down both side of the boat, or do both cable run down one side of the boat? does the cable have a connector on the motor end?

yeah the cables run down both sides and come out thru two holes on either side with a pully there and then another pully with a hook the it has like a spring deal on the ends.then up front the cables just wrap around the backside of the steering hub. but i can't find any where on my motor to hook them to i will take some pics of the setup when i get home tommorrow been in the hospital since thur my son was born fri afternoon. so i will beable to get to it tommarow.

you have a hole in the front handle of the motor to attach to.

you wouldn't know where to get the attachment that hooks up to the motor handle would ya?also the little screw deals tha tighten down and hold the motor to the transon are froze what is the easiest way to get em out to replace one was broken when i picked it up and i broke the other trying to loosen it to get of the stand the gentleman had it on.
