Which oil

What is a reasonably priced good oil for the 50:1 mixture in a early 1980s Johnson and Evinrude 35HP. I want clean low smoke low dirty exhaust. Thanks.

synthetic, TC-W3 outboard motor oil.

Thanks. The guy that sold the motor used Mercury non-synthetic. I'll try synthetic.

Synthetic is said to smoke a lot less. I have never used mainly due to the price differential. My motto is
If its TCW-3 It's good for me !!! and I enjoy the smell first thing in the morning!!

For all around use and low smoke, use the semi-synthetic Evinrude XD-50 oil. Find a dealer who sells it in bulk (bring your own container) for a lot less than factory packaged 1 gallon jugs.

The fully synthetic XD-100 oil would be the best and least smoke, if any, but is more expensive.
