I have seen some fiberglass cloth that said it was for finishing. just wondering if this could be used on a deck for a non skid surface. I am going to be replacing my deck and I dont want to use carpet. also if anyone has any other options would be appreciated.

Well you can use fiberglass but it will wear and is probably not good for bare feet. Not wanting to use carpet is a good choice for many.

Options for deck surface:
Vinyl - easy to clean and maintain
Durabak - nice non slip surface
Paint with non slip additive but caution about using too much sand or it will shred you
Pain w/o any tratment
Roll on bed liner - some companies have colors
There are some rubber mat coatings that have a grid pattern but they hold dirt

Dynel cloth for cockpit sole. Very durable for abrasion resistance and leaves a canvas-like surface when cured for non-skid.

Hello Paul..

When you say deck with carpet..we are assuming sole/floor of the cockpit area ?

What boat do you have ? pics available ?

Re: question about glassing deck?

I have a 79 Thompson 17.5 ft with 120 hp omc stern drive. Dont have pics yet. just now learned how to do that and it is to dark outside. will get some tomorrow. And yes I am speaking of the cockpit floor it is a bow rider so I have a deck from bow to stern. Thanks seven up, that is exactly the type of surface I was thinking about.
